Schiermonnikoog is a dynamic island where nature is allowed to roam free. With such a variety of landscapes; over 300 types of birds visit the island every year and a wealth of rare plants, it is no wonder that the island has been a National Park since 1989. Schiermonnikoog is a paradise for bird watchers and people looking for peace and tranquillity. On the West side of the island there are plenty of walking and cycle paths. While the East side of the island offers a more off-road approach, where nature roams free for people to enjoy and relax in.
