A good starting point for a visit to the National Park Schiermonnikoog is the Visitors Centre. The Centre offers a wide range of nature excursions led by professional guides and forest rangers.
They offer excursions to the mudflats (known in the Netherlands as “het Wad”) under the professional guidance of experienced bird watchers, to help you spot rare and beautiful birds on the island. This also includes a beachcombing tour where you get the opportunity to look for the treasures that wash up on the beach and intertidal zone.
The expositions in the Visitors Centre will give you a first impression of the diverse landscapes of the island.
